About Me

Hi! I'm Christina, and I am a recent graduate from Virginia Tech! I'm in Northern VA now pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'd like to continue what I learned from the Geography of Wine class I took in Spring of 2012, so I'll be posting about different wines and wine events. I would be very grateful for suggestions, and I'm open to expanding my posts to beer and liquor as well!

Tasting - Tiki Sauvignon Blanc

Name: Tiki Sauvignon Blanc

Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Marlborough
Country: Australia
Year: 2010
Price: $11.95
Shop Review: A powerful nose of peach, citrus and passionfruit aromas complexed with some sweaty notes.  Pungent and powerful aromatics – sweet citrus, meyer lemon and grapefruit, juiced green apples then a tropical note of pineapple core and passion fruit.  Intense with excellent mouth feel and texture leading to a long lingering finish enhanced by vibrant acidity.  Finishing dry, with a firm acidity that is well balanced by a touch of residual sugar and a solid fruit core that reflects the aromatics.
My Review: I definitely did not get all of those complex aromas and flavors!  I need to work on my sniffy sniff skills and train my palate up before I could ever get some of those specific descriptions.  This wine was a straw color.  The smell of pineapple was the main aroma I could sense.  It also tasted of pineapple and had a slightly sour finish.

I had this wine alone without any food.
