About Me

Hi! I'm Christina, and I am a recent graduate from Virginia Tech! I'm in Northern VA now pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'd like to continue what I learned from the Geography of Wine class I took in Spring of 2012, so I'll be posting about different wines and wine events. I would be very grateful for suggestions, and I'm open to expanding my posts to beer and liquor as well!

Tasting - Henry Lagarde Cabernet Sauvignon

Name: Henry Lagarde Cabernet Sauvignon

Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2008
Price: $17.95
Shop Review: Cherry color, almost black towards the centre of the glass.  The bouquet is a complex mixture of fruity and spicy sensations, with some notes of smoke and minerals.  Full-mouthed and highly structured.  Its ripe tannins give unctuosity and persistence to this excellent wine.
My Review: This wine is a lovely dark ruby in color and has a heavy black pepper and cherry aroma.  For some reason, I smelled a slight scent of salami, so it is likely I had a similarly structured wine and salami at some point, and the aromas just reminded me of this.  Upon tasting the wine, it was very dry and peppery.

I had this wine alone without any food.
