About Me

Hi! I'm Christina, and I am a recent graduate from Virginia Tech! I'm in Northern VA now pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'd like to continue what I learned from the Geography of Wine class I took in Spring of 2012, so I'll be posting about different wines and wine events. I would be very grateful for suggestions, and I'm open to expanding my posts to beer and liquor as well!

Tasting - Crucero Merlot Reserve

Name: Crucero Merlot Reserve

Variety: Merlot
Region: Colchagua Valley
Country: Chile
Year: 2007
Price: $13.95
Shop Review: Aged in 50% oak barrels (American and French) for 10 months.  A red ruby color, complex aromas with hints of black fruits, confiture and some spicy aromas in perfect harmony with the wood.  The palate displays juicy and soft tannins that makes the wine very easy to drink.  A long and persistence finish.  Pairs well with chicken, game, pasta.
My Review: This wine is ruby in color.  It has complex dark fruit, black pepper and dark cherry aromas.  It tastes oaky with dark cherries and a dry finish.

I had this wine alone without any food.
