About Me

Hi! I'm Christina, and I am a recent graduate from Virginia Tech! I'm in Northern VA now pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'd like to continue what I learned from the Geography of Wine class I took in Spring of 2012, so I'll be posting about different wines and wine events. I would be very grateful for suggestions, and I'm open to expanding my posts to beer and liquor as well!

Tasting - Gran Crucero Limited Edition 2008

Name: Gran Crucero Limited Edition 2008

Variety: 50% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Carmenere
Region: Colchagua Valley
Country: Chile
Year: 2008
Price: $25.95
Shop Review: Deep ruby.  Wild aromas of cassis, dark chocolate, smoky herbs and earth, along with a touch of incense.  Then supple and pliant, offering juicy red currant and bitter cherry, smoke and licorice flavors.  The sappy finish lingers with good authority and echoes the smoky note.
My Review: This wine is ruby in color.  It had aromas of dark cherry with notes of spiciness.  It had slight dark chocolate flavors and was rather dry.  I wasn’t wowed in any way, and believe that I could find many wines as good as this at a cheaper price.  I kind of think you are paying for the colorful description they provided!

I had this wine alone without any food.
