About Me

Hi! I'm Christina, and I am a recent graduate from Virginia Tech! I'm in Northern VA now pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'd like to continue what I learned from the Geography of Wine class I took in Spring of 2012, so I'll be posting about different wines and wine events. I would be very grateful for suggestions, and I'm open to expanding my posts to beer and liquor as well!

Tasting - Altas Cumbres Malbec

Name: Altas Cumbres Malbec

Variety: 100% Malbec
Region: Lujan de Cuyo
Country: Argentina
Year: 2010
Price: $12.95
Shop Review: This Mendoza Malbec is produced by Lagarde Winery from vineyards that are more than 65 years old.  This is 100% Malbec and it offers lush aromas of berries, cassis, caramel and potpourri.  The color is deep purple tainted ruby with a violet hue.  This is a medium bodied wine with a lovely smooth texture and abundance of dark black fruits, some minerality and smoke.  The tannins and acidity are well balanced creating a pure and elegant finish.
My Review: This Malbec is a dark ruby, with very thin legs.  Its aroma consists of oakiness, raspberry and other dark fruits.  I couldn’t really taste anything other than oakiness and that it felt light.

I had this wine alone without any food.
